WASHINGTON, September 12, 2012 – FairWinds Partners, the leading global domain name strategy consultancy, is pleased to announce Naotaka Matsukata, PhD, as Chief Executive Officer. Matsukata brings 20 years of global consulting experience and a background in public policy to FairWinds. He has held senior leadership and management positions at leading law firms and global Fortune 500 companies. Matsukata has also advised CEOs, senior elected officials, and executive members of governments. Widely published, Matsukata has commented on global commercial and Internet governance issues. In addition to his private and public sector experience, Matsukata received a PhD from Harvard University and has taught at Harvard, as well as Johns Hopkins University.

In addition to guiding the introduction of FairWinds’ suite of new gTLD strategy services, Matsukata will also help the FairWinds team continue to improve and enhance all of its domain name strategy, recovery, and administration services, as well as its social media strategy services. “We know that Nao’s rich and varied professional background will help us to continue to grow as a business and that he is the best person to lead our team in continuing to provide better and more strategic advice and add increased value to our clients through the work we do,” said FairWinds co-founder and Managing Partner Phil Lodico.
In 2012, FairWinds prepared 135 gTLD applications for 51 blue-chip clients, and is currently working to guide those clients through the new gTLD evaluation process to successful launches of their new gTLDs.
